Safe Mode
Use conservative defaults that reduce risk during first-run and production optimization.
Safe Mode is a conservative operating posture for production sites.
What Safe Mode means
Safe Mode keeps the plugin oriented around cautious settings:
- Backups stay prominent.
- Unsupported formats are skipped.
- SVG and animated GIF processing is avoided.
- Frontend delivery can be enabled only after generated formats are verified.
- AVIF remains optional and capability-driven.
When to keep it enabled
Keep Safe Mode enabled for new sites, client sites, WooCommerce stores, and any site where image changes require careful review.
When to relax it
Only adjust settings after you have tested a representative sample of media and confirmed that backup/restore works on the hosting environment.
